Chapter—

Jacob walked down the pristine and warm halls of the Leopard Kings home.

The hallowed ring of the cell phone pressed to his ear was annoying. Jacob had no love for mortal instruments or technologies. But where there was use in an item he would use it.

Guns. Poison. Broken glass. It had its uses.

Jacob was marching forwards, the phone buzzing in his ear was slowly setting his blood to a boil; When a large and claw tipped hand slammed down, non to gently, on his shoulder.

“Hey Fucker where you think you’re going!?” A sharp and angry voice snarled at his back. “You’re not allowed free roam in this bitch. Get in here!”

And before Jacob could truly decide whether he would rip the owner of that arm to shreds, Jacob was being shoved to the left and into a room that was….nowhere as pristine and pretty as the rest of the Leopard Kings Mansion.

The room was small, devoid of furniture….and the walls were hosting dozen of deep claw marks…and the carpet and wooden floor stunk of Ghoul and blood.

“Ohm….what delicious mayhem happened in here?” Jacob couldn’t help but chuckle as he let himself be shoved into the room. He glanced back and realized that he was being cordoned off from behind, by two of the Leopard Shifters who Mantilo had identified as his Guardians.

One of the men had yellow hair that could have out shown the sun and sharp blaring green eyes.

The other Guardian was a short and stocky built youth. With short black hair, small blue eyes and a calm rage about him that somehow reminded Jacob of Mantilo the Leopard king.

Suddenly the young male was speaking.

“Your little Alchemists buddy’s happened!” The younger male with blue burring eyes replied.

His face was covered in a frown of displeasure as he glanced around the room, then looked at Jacob. “Those Ghouls that they sent after Brandon tore up this entire room trying to get at him.” The Youth reported heavily as if Jacob should care. Then the Youth straitened his legs and a serious tone came over him.

“My Clan Head Mantilo believes it would be best if you were kept in here until the meting convenes tomorrow Jacob of the Lions. So refrain from venturing out or we will hurt you.”

“Pardon me….!” Jacob downright chuckled looking the youth up and down. “But Who ARE you again?” Jacob dryly drawled at the male Leopards standing in the room with him.

Jacob truly had forgotten their names.

“MY name is Drin…and this is Lander.” The Youth replied first pointing to himself then over to his partner.

Drin may have been young, but he held himself with dignity and he seemed to sneer behind his eyes but his expression remained mostly natural and stoic as he looked at Jacob.

Feeling the insane itch to throw the Guardians out of the room so that he could make his phone call in peace Jacob cast them a sharp sneer and made a shooing motion at them with his hand.

“Well then Drin and Lander….I need to make a call so if you don’t mind? Fuck off!” Jacob told them.

He was far from surprised when both of the Guardians hissed back at him.

“Hey! It’s fucking Guardian Lander to you Lion!” Lander snarled suddenly and with a clear open aggressive movement he slammed his hands into the Jacob’s body shoving him. “And don’t think for a second that I’ve forgotten that you almost killed my brother out in that forest! You bastered!”

Jacob growled and darted into Landers face. He glared into the thick Guardians eyes. “Touch me again Pussy cat….and I will kill you!” Jacob openly threated him.

Lander smiled. A mouth full of fangs and slit green eyes boiling full of violence. The danger of the moment seemed to shine in his gaze. IT was almost a gleeful light.

If Jacob wasn’t so set on his mission….He might have appreciated the pure zing of maniacal joy in this Guardians green eyes.

The world needed more Shifters like this.

Brazen. Beastly. Violent.

Just like Jacob.

With a small growl Jacob turned form the Lander and walked away without speaking another word.

He wasn’t backing down….or running from a fight. But he couldn’t afford to get into a death match…Although Jacobs inner beast burned with the idea of challenging the Leopard Lander to a brawl. Simply to taste his blood…and take his life Jacob had just enough control that he knew he couldn’t act without some forethought.

So leaving the Leopard Lander behind him Jacobs walked over towards the youth and snarled in his face.

To his credit the younger Leopard Drin didn’t flinch…even though Jacob could have killed him with a single swipe of his claws.

“Guardian Drin I will remain in this room if I must….” Jacob said addressing the man. “But I demand that I be left alone. You Guardians need to back off so I can make a call.”

“Who are you to dictate such things in my Clans Heads home Lion?” The youth now openly sneered and hissed at Jacob.

Jacob shrugged. “Do you want me to call Brandon’s father…or not!?” he replied on a clipped snarl.

Drin rumbled in his chest at his words, and flashed his fangs in aggression, then Drin turned, walked towards Lander and put a hand on his taller shoulder.

“Come on Lander….” The youth growled at the other Guardian softly. “Let’s go.”

It took a second, but Lander soon hissed, knocked Drin’s hand off of his shoulder, turned and preceded the youth out of the room. Neither Guardian glanced backwards as they disappeared from his sight.

Jacob chucked to himself knowing that speaking to the youth had been the best decision, considering that like him Lander would have preferred to kill him then back down without a voice of reason and a strong restraining hand.

Turing all of his thoughts away from the Leopards Jacob lifted his phone to his ear. Just as the shrill, but masculine voice of a man broke across the speakers.

“Hello?” Hovel, Grand Master of the Alchemists, and his partner baked across the line.

The Alchemists always sounded as if he were barking…even thought his voice was as smooth as ice…and twice as cold.

Tuning and walking further into the room Jacob said. “Hovel….We have a problem.” Then he proceeded to outline everything that had transpired with the Leopard Clan since Jacob had spoken to Hovel nearly five days ago.

After a long and rage filled silence….Hovel released a tight breath and said in a voice that could have sliced him to ribbons. “Jacob Why didn’t you just slaughter them all and take Brandon when you had the chance!” He nearly snarled across the phone line.

Only the smallest bit surprised by the suggestion Jacob smiled nastily into the phone.

“Hmm…I guess I could blaze their entire Clan all on my own…but….” Jacob stopped and sighed. “There is a Reaver here that could give me a run for my money.”

He softly reported.

Ezekiel the Guardian was a squall of unnatural nature that Jacob had never really expected to face in his lifetime. He stunk of buckets of adrenaline and endorphins. IT was like acid to another shifters senses when they caught his scent. It was a warning.

Death. Something unnatural is here. This was why most Reavers were not permitted to live in most Shifters Clans. They smelled wrong. They were not normal.

Most of them never made it to Ezekiels age…or his strength level. He was….something dangerous.

The Guardian Reaver was a problem…but Jacob could handle him.

Still blood would flow. Lots of Blood.

“A Reaver…?” Hovel said. His voice broke into Jacobs thoughts with a tone filled with frustration. “Disgusting diseased animals! Don’t you Shifters even know how to protect yourselves?” Hovel snared nastily speaking of Jacob’s species as if he didn’t know Jacob himself was also a Shifter. Then Hovel sighed and asked. “Are you unsure if you can kill this Reaver Jacob?”

To this Jacob growled into the phone.

“No. I’m pretty sure I can kill all of them. Even the Reaver…but why should I?” He asked solemnly. “I mean Annihilating the entire upper ruling Class of a Clan?” Jacob chuckled. “I didn’t even know that was an option.”

With a cold bark Hovel said. “Oh It is now! I will not risk more wasted time! And if they will not concede to my request….they will all die!”

“Are you sure Hovel” Jacob questioned him, even as he felt a small trill of excitement touch his soul at the carless and bloody words falling from the Grand Masters lips. “What about the Elders? The Dragons? If we take these people out….They will come after us.” Jacob pointed out.

There was no fear in his heart. Or really any feelings either way.

He had never elected to fell much of anything about anything anymore. It seemed so pointless.

“Elders, Leopards….Dragons. Well kill them too.” Hovel laughed. The sound was sharp…and bold. Then Hovel grew serious as a heart attack and his cold tone blead across the speaker.

“I will be there tomorrow Jacob to speak with this filthy King of Leopards personally. Do not let that boy slip away from us again."

?Jacob closed the phone and looked out of the window. "Tomorrow..." He growled to himself.

?Brandon never should have run away.
