I guess you never knew,
the long hours of the night
stretched into brisk dawns,
the hours I waited for you
peering into your absence,
the times I thought of you
while walking among crowds.
I guess you just didn´t know
my heart was so full of you
all your loves became mine,
my desire shaped by yours,
my memory embellished
by our brief time together.
I guess you´ll never know
I still love you, body and soul
and celebrate your existence,

How fortunate that person is or would be, to have someone like you so loyal, so dedicated and devoted.

Wed, January 18th, 2023 2:29amIt's amazing how much your talent has developed over time, Liz. You focus on the things poets see and bring them to those who are oblivious.
"Peering into your absence" is by far my favorite line in this piece - such a powerful image that encompasses the theme and essence of the poem.
So much is steeped in so little it amazes me how it packs emotional power through every word. Lovely. :)
