Dark streets treasuring secrets,

dark portals whispering names,

old cobblestones wearing traces

of some long-gone footsteps.

Dark hours of lonely souls,

the piercing pain of desirous flesh,

longing and bereavement.

washed away for a short while

with the fleeting climaxes

of casual sex encounters.

Dark waters of an old river

slowly travelling in the night

to their sure destination.

Ah, familiar territory, Lizzie. It doesn't get old, though. I like the metaphorical significance of the river. It's a beautiful piece.
