The Shame of Robespierre

In Parisian squares, she chopped.

Away, and fed those sinful mobs,

While baskets snatched those voiceless

Crowns and charmed the slouching throng. And

Fast they threw those rotting fruits and

Cheered her fatal razor.

For heartless in that mournful gloom

Stood Mariah dark and keen.

Then haunted Robespierre did weep

Upon her breasts and pray. But fair

She was, and sharp she came to wrest

Him from his duty.
