You were the skin never touched,
the body never tasted,
the flogger never felt
the ropes that never tied me.
the glance on my body,
the smile resembling a smirk,
the unknown territory,
so different from its map.
You were all and yet nothing,
you were a story and all stories,
you were the darkest of nights
and also the lonely morning star.
You were one man and all men,
you were a fantasy come alive,
you were the love that never was.

I love the repetition, your primary poetic element. The piece really captures the essence of what might have been, steeping your reader into the recollection of someone they might have known better had the stars aligned properly. It’s odd that we can miss what we never actually had.

Thank you for your words, dearest kitten. You interpret things in a way not many can and you usually read me inside out.
