nothing major just a lil something I came up with. Hopefully it stirs up a friendly type of relatability for others.

Hey you,

I saw you just the other day.

I don't think you saw me but that's ok.

You looked happy.

I've always enjoyed your smiles even if they were not meant for me.

Funny how life is.

You meet people, then they come and go.

But then, there's those few that come to be so much more than a shared smile while crossing the street, a hello goodbye with a stranger or a friendly gesture of holding the door.

You were so much more.

I recalled our brief history and a tear came to my eye.

I fought back those old emotions and reminded myself I was done with it.

I had to be.

But was I really?

Did I lie to myself just to get by?

Did I just miss you being in my life for that moment?

Or had time played its part as a healing salve?

I believe it has.

I remember our goodbye was for a reason. I wished you well and I meant it.

But seeing you that day...(be still my heart).

I resisted going to you to say hi and reintroduce myself.

'Let you be' that voice in my head warned me.

And so I did.

I turned the other way and continued my stroll.

Then I heard a familiar song shared once between you and I fill the air and travel along far and wide for all around to hear.

Looking in the direction the music came from, I saw you, and you were looking at me.

Our eyes met, then you smiled and waved.

Then you continued on your way as I stood in shock, frozen for a moment.

I felt the smile in my face begin to grow.

Wow!

What a day!

You still remembered me and it was nice.

More importantly, it was just enough.

You have always been more than just enough, yes you mean lots to me and place-hold that special location, where only you can reside! I pray for you, & hope that you can always hold a little spot there in your heart for me as well, as I dearly hold your voice & your essence in my treasure chest of memories!!!

Hey Nite! This is magnificent! Poetry is about emotion, and this really grabs it. I'm particularly fond of the ending. It's not a forlorn desperation but a gentle recollection. The beauty of it is mutual recognition and peace. We relive our lifetime in moments, little blinks of an eye, passing glances, casual reminders. We are a collection of experiences, and most of those are shared. It's nice to see that others carry our own memories. You say a lot here.
