When time seems to slow down

In the enigmatic hours of the night,

when all things blend in darkness

and the river enfolds new secrets

away from the ever prying eyes,

when an old tango fades in the air,

when only but sadly bereaved souls

lurk in the streets around the bridge,

when only some faint jasmine scent

plays its charm in the mysterious air,

it is then that I get to see you again

just as you happened to be once,

before our meeting, before our story,

even before everything we knew.

And  then time, nights and also life

fall into some fast-spinning  wheel

where everything has a meaning

and we finally blend into each other

and we blissfully become one.

I like the way you use repetition here as a build-up to the final theme of your piece. The imagery of a fast-spinning wheel is effective in alluding to how the pace of life changes, particularly when we're in love.

Just like literature, life has an ever-changing meter. It's challenging to emulate the ebb and flow of living with the words we use to describe it, but sometimes we're lucky enough to marry the rush of emotion with the perfect word spray such that the reader can feel the storm, then stand in the quiet eye of the hurricane with somber recollection.
