having failed all souls first course
in Earth’s stone schoolyard?

Look! See this lover,
spread beneath your hungry flesh,
look how she loves you!

Her eyes so eager!
Open thighs with ankles crossed!
Her arms clutch tightly!

How she engulfs you,
  taking all you have to give
with every shudder!

Still kept at arm’s length,
Love and Life and God and Death
remain Abstractions.
