Grain-Fed Of Ale

The dark is where I want to be
for the night is my eternity
no more tears to shed
for they have bled
grain-fed of ale
with no shivers in my bed

But loneliness is dark
like a blood-red tattoo
the memories we shared
of an owl's tu-whit tu-whoo
bleeding into my inkpot
as they fade into obscurity

Of dark's chocolate
like caffeine
adios, to the ghost of my means
stirring a shadow's demitasse
pulling at my strings
bittersweet and obscene

No more tears to shed
on these pale walls
as I feel your breath
return to me in dreams
on the nape of my being
as the tempest flees

In the darkness of my demons
of Coventry's rule
our love is not all romance
but like a blood-red tattoo
it breathes of spirits with wings
and dryads in the trees

Of midnight fires, kindling it brings
suckling your breasts with lips I sing
the dark is where I want to be
as I lust your dark spot
for the night is my eternity
in my house of shingle wood

Kiss your cooch, where I should
among the spines of old tomes
in the rafters of tu-whit tu-whoo
this hour of the dusk falling
in the hammock of our wedding
on the ides of fifteen
