LOVE'S DESPOTIC OPPRESSION

Poetry By: Raine Carosin
True confessions

(http://soundcloud.com/tronada/ldo for "musical" rendition)
a poem trying to encompass the whole senario of day to day living/surviving for average Suburban, as seen from the inside of the mind of the adult and the rebellious child within...

LOVE'S DESPOTIC OPPRESSION

02.01.12

Lyrics by Raine Carosin

Music and Narration by Graeme Robertson

Backing by Raine

(I'm a slave.... It's all insane...)

Is this how I make it through my every day? Making excuses for time to play?

Dominating my inner child from going wild

Dictating my chores

Despising the whores

Fixing my house

Pleasing my spouse...

Day after day after day?

(GET UP! GET UP! GET UP!

THOSE DISHES WON'T DO THEMSELVES!)

I make myself do the deed

I make the time to water the seed

I make sure that I have all I need

I spend, I buy, I feed

My free will is to lead my rebellion to concede to my will to have my way

No matter what my inner child may say

(It's all insane...)

And that is how we think

Whether on the edge or on the brink -

We must swim, or drown and sink

(Doododododododoo...aaaiiiiiiiii)

'Tween the controller and the rebel we must forge the link

Or we won't have our beverage to drink

So no matter how loudly I cry I must find the Spirit or I'll run dry

...And I must do that which makes my world ... safe and sound for a boy and a girl

And so, I must also do as I'm told and I must follow the Laws

(Ooooooooooo)

Or else I'll find myself behind bars

Or in a Dictator's claws

Either way, I live with my rebel...

And sometimes my life can be terrible...

But I smile and I do what I say ... to make a bright and better day

And my inner child cries "I am a slave!"

And I smile and I scrimp and I save

And we do our tasks with our theatre masks

And I remember what those before gave

So that we can do as we please

And pay our dues and pay our fees

So that children who come after can live in ease

"I am a slave, too" I say on my knees

(gotta make the bed...)

And I can smile with my rebellious child growing up with the forest of trees

(it's all insane....)
