What the fuck was going on back there?" Albear asked once they were all at Hardy Boys. They were all sitting at a round table, cruising guys, and having drinks.
"Nothing." Lourdes said. "Just a disagreement."
"About his girlfriend?" Tyler asked. "When did you find out about this?"
"And why didn't you tell us?" Lamont asked.
"I just found out about the girlfriend, and the disagreement was about something else."
"Or someone else." Albear said. Lourdes tilted her shoulder and looked at him.
"I'll say." Corey said looking into his beer. "There was something very twisted going on back there if you ask me."
"Honey," Lamont said in his southern twang, "it looked like a lot more was going on than just a disagreement."
"It's fine. It was nothing."
"Honey, did he hit you?" Lamont asked putting one hand on Lourdes' back.
"No, of course not. Why would you even think that?"
"Maybe because you were running for dear life." Albear said watching her.
"Yes I was running, but I wasn't in fear for my life. I just needed to get away from him for a moment."
"Lourdes," Tyler said putting his hand on hers, "you would tell us if you thought he might hurt you right? Because you don't want to be with a guy like that."
"Gabriel doesn't hurt you, does he?" Corey asked.
"Look, will you guys just chill the fuck out!" Lourdes said. "Yeah, we had a disagreement. And I understand from the outside perspective that it all looks a little fucked up, but everything is alright."
"It better be." Albear said. "Because the last thing he would want is a bunch of angry fags clawing his eyes out."
Lourdes looked at him, but said nothing.
"Whoo-hoo! You tell em' honey." Lamont said raising his beer.
They all smiled and laughed.
"So Sin City after this?" Tyler asked.
"Yes!" They all said.
"No." Lourdes said. "I gotta get back."
"You're not going back there." Corey said. "You shouldn't be around each other right now."
"Corey he's not even going to be there, when I get back. There's nothing to worry about."
"She's right." Albear said. "I promised her only one drink and we're going to stick to that. Besides, she's a big girl, she knows what she's doing."
Lourdes nodded her head.
Once they finished their drinks, Lourdes took off, but the boys stayed for another round, while Albear drove her back to Gabriel's."
When they were out in front of the house, they sat in the car for a moment. Albear put his hand on her's. "You alright?"
Lourdes moved her hand away. "I'm not a child Albear."
"Well of course your not." He said reaching into his pocket pulling out party favors. Lourdes rolled her eyes. "That doesn't mean I want to do drugs with you either." She said.
"My disco pharmacologist cooked this up for me," he said ignoring her, "careful, it's a little strong." Albear took a sniff and held it to her nose to sniff also.
"Wow," she said, "that is strong." Lourdes rested her head back on the seat. "Oooh that's nice." She said closing her eyes.
"I know right?" Albear said resting his head on hers. "You sure I can't twist your arm to come to Sin City tonight?"
Lourdes jerked up out of her seat and stared at him.
"What?" He asked. "What'd I say?"
"Nothing, its just..." She drifted off. A quick flash of her scuffle with Alex had went through her mind. She sat back in her seat.
"Go easy on the shit, I told you it was strong." Albear said resting his head back on hers again.
"It wasn't that." She said. "I'm fine."
"Yes you are." He said. "But before you go."
"Hmm?"
"Were you telling the truth when you said that he's not on the other side of that door?"
Lourdes closed her eyes. "The truth is I have no idea. I don't see his car anywhere, but he's smart enough not to park it, in plain sight."
"You know," Alby said, "I use to have this friend..."
"Albear don't."
"Don't what?"
"Don't give me some twisted metaphor of what you think happened tonight."
"Okay I won't."
"Thank you."
"If you don't bullshit me about what happened. Because I'm not letting you walk through that door, if you've gotten yourself in a dangerous situation."
"Alby, I'm sure Alex is at home by now, and I was never in any danger."
Albear pulled away from her but stayed close. "Okay so he didn't hurt you, but there was some kind of power struggle going on."
"You could say that." She whispered.
"So instead of you just confronting him about Celia, you mind fucked him into a rage."
"I guess you could say that." She whispered again.
"Drama queen, just like us." He said laughing. But then he stopped. "Wait, did you hit him?"
"No. But at the time I wanted to, I really wanted to, before..."
"Before what?"
She shook her head.
Albear put his arm back around her shoulders and drew her in close again. "You know I don't have to tell you that most fags have done every type of scene possible."
"Especially you." She said. "Didn't you let the dungeon master, mummify you last week?"
" Leather daddy's, S&M, scat-"
"Don't be gross." She said.
"My point is, if things got a little out of control and you liked it, it's okay to tell me."
"Oh Alby!" Lourdes said nudging him away from her. "All you care about is the dirty details, and it wasn't even like that."
"I bet I'm not far off." He said putting a cigarette into his mouth.
Lourdes sat back in her seat contemplating what to say. "Okay, so maybe I did like it... just a little."
"I knew it!" He sat up excited.
"Albear, I don't know what happened. One minute we're arguing, the next minute we're fighting, and before I knew it we were-"
"Fighting and fucking?" He asked excitedly. "Oh that's such a turn on," he grabbed her hand, "feel I'm so hard,"
"No!" She said yanking her hand away as he laughed. "Alby, help me here!"
Albear took another sniff and handed it to her. She took it out of his hand and set it in her lap. "How do I do this?" She pleaded.
"Okay, you say he didn't hit you."
"Not technically no."
"What does that mean?"
"He might have been aggressive...just a bit."
"So he got rough."
She nodded.
"Who got rough first, you or him?"
"Him."
"So you admit, that you got rough too?"
"Don't try to trick me with you're word play asshole."
"Yes or no bitch?"
"I might have bit him, just a little, to make him let go of me."
"I'm still hard." He sang smiling.
"Focus, Alby, please."
"So he got rough after all the mind fucking?"
"Sort of."
"After all the arguing?"
"And the phone calling." She added.
Albear smiled. "So you two were arguing about me?"
"Oh fuck off Albear." Lourdes said running her hands through her hair. "You're as arrogant and cocky as he is."
"I'm going to need more details, if I'm going to help you with this situation." He said.
"Let's just forget about it, I'm going inside." She said grabbing her new Chanel bag and putting her hand on the car door. "Thanks for the drink and the...you know." She tossed the popper into his lap.
Albear grabbed her hand. "No way. We're not done yet."
Lourdes sat back in her seat.
"How far did you let things go?"
"I stopped struggling, he let me go."
"Just like that?"
"Just like that."
"So what provoked the incident that we walked into?"
"I may have tripped him...a little." She said smiling.
"What?"
"He was walking away feeling all proud and masculine and I stuck my foot out."
"You crazy bitch! I would have killed you!" Albear said laughing.
"Well I'm sure that was his intention. So, as he was eating shit on the ground, I made a run for it, and now you're caught up."
"If it was me," he said still laughing. "I'd be on the other side of that door waiting to ring your neck."
"If there ever was a but what, that'd be it." She said.
"I don't follow."
"All the wind was taken out of his sails, once he realized I knew about Celia."
"So really, that's what this is all about?"
"No." She said. "Yes. No."
"Which is it?"
"It doesn't matter. The point is, this is the reality that we both needed, to stomp this affair into the ground."
"And you're ready to do that?" He asked.
"Yes."
"What bothers you the most about the fact that he has a girlfriend?" Albear asked.
"What?"
"Is it because she's something real to him?"
Lourdes hated how well Albear knew her.
"I would think that this should make things easier for you."
"How you figure that?" She asked.
"He has her. You have Gabe. It'll keep the boundaries real clear."
Lourdes nodded her head, beginning to see where he was going,
"Just think of how much easier it'll be, to stay in control, now that the rules have been turned black and white for you."
"So you're saying that I should continue to have my cake and eat it too, now that he's no longer able to make demands of me."
"How'd you get so smart?" He smiled.
"But what about Celia?"
"Who gives a fuck about his girlfriend? Don't assume she's innocent in all this until you meet her."
"I don't mean that, I mean..."
"What about her feelings?" Albear asked.
"Yes."
"Do you care?" He asked.
Lourdes said nothing.
"Because if you do, then we might have a problem."
"It's not what you think." She said.
"Yes it is." He responded. "If you are reacting to this situation, off of pure emotions then that means that your heart is involved. Have I taught you nothing?"
"I can't just fuck the guy over and over again, and not feel anything Albear, I'm not you."
"You don't have to be," he said, "but we all have a choice. And my advice to you is, you can kiss it, you can stroke it, you suck it-"
"Alby-"
"You can even fuck it, just don't fall in love with it."
"I get it." She said.
"Keep it simple."
Lourdes nodded her head. "Albear, as fucked up as your views are, I think I might like to study at your feet."
"Well take notes bitches, you're lucky you're getting my services for free."
"What would I ever do without you." Lourdes smiled and kissed him goodnight. Albear kissed her back and held her face close to his. "He'll never love you like I do." He whispered.
"You two are not even in the same league." Lourdes smiled and got out of the car.
Albear wasn't a hundred percent sure what she meant by that.
