Chapter 7: Back to normal

"A who?" I asked.

Remy sat down and sighed. "You don't believe me."

"Remy, when you sit someone down and tell them that someone they met is a werewolf, it's not exactly a believing conversation. What do you expect me to say about it?"

"Something." He answered.

I stared at him. "This is serious."

"I know a person who studies mythology and everything seems to check out. Stay away from that guy."

"I don't come around him."

"When werewolves are in wolf form, they're emotions are fueled by anger. Doesn't matter how much they may give a damn about you in human form. Their wolf form overshadows everything."

"I need to…" I sat down. I'm sick of learning about this new stuff that may be a danger to me or to the people I care about.

Vampire slayers…..

Vampire hunters……

What else is there?

I'd like to know so I can know what is safe and what is dangerous for me for now on because I just don't know anymore.

It took me a minute to let this all sit in my brain. I didn't want to know all this information although I thought I did.

Who can live like this? Knowing all this and the worst part about it is that there might be more to this.

And Remy seemed panicked but not as panicked as I feel at this moment.

I felt this odd chill going up into my brain. Like this nervous feeling of knowing way too much.

Remy kept his eyes on mine as I was thinking about all of this in my head.

"What else is there, Remy? I don't want any other surprises. Please." I breathed.

"There are the myth of shape shifters but that's all I know…Leena."

"Shape shifters?"

"Um…yeah. Let's not get into that right now. It's too much."

"Yeah, way too much." I shook my head and sniffed.

"Leena, I'm sorry to put this all on you especially with the fact that you're still pissed over Christian."

"It's almost dawn, Remy."

He looked out of the window and saw the sky lightening up and then he looked back to me. "I'm sorry." He whispered.

"I know." I nodded.

He stared at me and suddenly, I was in a bone crushing hug that knocked the air out of my lungs.

Remy's never hugged me before. It was a brand new thing for me and I was confused.

"You're crushing me." I said in a strained voice. It felt like some thing made of glass trying to hug me back.

Remy let go of me and stepped back. "I never wanted to tell you all of this."

His eyes became dark red as he stared at me and I knew he needed blood.

"Okay. I know."

He shut his eyes and then opened them.

"You can feed from me." I breathed.

Remy suddenly had a tough grip on my arm and pulled me to him.

"Not my neck." I said.

He nodded. "I know."

I swallowed and he raised the sleeve of my shirt up and bit into my arm.

But this time, I felt it. It didn't hurt. It slowly morphed into pleasure and I snatched my arm away. What was he doing? Why was he purposely trying to make me feel pleasure?

He sighed. "I'm sorry. I thought it'd make you feel better."

"It didn't. But thanks anyway."

Remy nodded. "I need to go feed. We'll talk about this once I get back."

"I don't want to talk about it, Remy. Not now. I just need a break."

"Yes." I answered.

Remy stared at me.

"You want me to leave?"

"For now, please?" I asked.

Remy hesitated. "I'll be back tomorrow night. It's almost six."

I nodded.

He stepped backwards and then disappeared before my eyes.

I felt like I stopped breathing. Like there was no end to this odd feeling of stress I suddenly got.

I was sick of this. I thought I still wanted to be involved but now I'm realizing that maybe I don't.

My want for Christian has surprisingly not subsided yet I couldn't see us being back together.

I didn't know what to do.

Werewolf? Vampire? I didn't want any part of this anymore and I knew I couldn't handle it.

It was too much for a human.

I think I should just sleep it off.

Yeah, I grabbed the bottle of wine I had on the table and took it with me as I climbed up the stairs.

Nick opened the door to the guest bedroom and peeked out sleepily. "Hmm?"

"Nobody called you. Go back to sleep." I whispered.

"You okay, Lee?"

I nodded. "I'll be fine. Thanks for having my back since I got involved with..."

"Bloodsucking demons of hell. No prob." He smiled sleepily.

I smiled with him and bit my lip. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight." He said and then shut the door closed.

I walked to my bedroom and shut the door closed. I need a drink. A large sip.

I stare down at the top. Damnit, I need a cork screw.

Too late.

I sat the bottle down on the table beside my bed and pulled my shorts down.

I climbed into my bed and laid down as I stared up into the ceiling. If I would not have got involved….if I would have walked out of Christian's life the second I walked in that night, it'd be different.

I actually can't wait to go back to work. It will return some kind of normality back into my life.

I don't go to work until Monday.

I shut my eyes.

Werewolf? All I can think about was that word.

It's so annoying.

And so frustrating.

And way too much. This guy who Remy claims to be a werewolf came in way too soon.

I'd be happy if he wouldn't have came at all.

I pray he never comes back….ever.

I barely slept. It was six a.m. when I went to sleep. Yet, I woke up two hours later.

I got dressed in jogging pants and a white t shirt and put my hair in a pony tail after taking a shower.

I came down the stairs and went into the kitchen.

I stopped when I saw a unexpected person in the kitchen.

"Kindle." I said.

She turned and swallowed.

"Oh… Hi." She said in a low tone.

"What are you….doing in my…house?"

Why do people just magically show up?

"Nick invited me over and I wanted to talk to you."

"Did you?"

She nodded and buttoned up Nick's shirt that was on her body. She sat down.

I sat down with her.

"Leena, I shouldn't have…I'm sorry. You don't have to forgive me right away but….I need you to one day."

"You don't forgive so easily, Kindle."

"True. And I'm sorry for the dramatics."

I shrugged. "No, I think you reacted perfectly fine. I'm just surprised that you didn't pee on yourself when you found out about vampires."

"Trust me I was close." She said.

I chuckled and she laughed with me.

"So…people still coming to ask you who it was that ruined Illinois?" She asked.

I hesitated. Telling her wouldn't hurt…right?

"No. Not lately. Police gave up mainly because Remy threatened them."

"My ex boyfriend's best friend." I said.

"Your ex…where is he now?"

"South America I think. That's where he said he was going."

"You miss him?"

"All day every day but my world is still spinning." I said.

Kindle nodded and smiled. "True."

"Anyway, he's far beyond me anyway. I'm not in his league."

"You're in everyone's league."

"I use to be." I snickered.

Kindle giggled. "Remember Anthony Ryan…ninth grade?"

"Disaster." I shook my head.

"True." She giggled.

It was nice to finally talk to her without her being mad at me.

"So you and Nick...huh?

Kindle blushed and her gray eyes looked down to the floor.

"It's okay. He liked you for a very long time."

"He jumps from girl to girl. This is just a fling, Leena."

"Maybe…maybe not."

Nick walked into the kitchen.

"You didn't tell me we had company." I said.

Nick shrugged and kissed Kindle's forehead and then went to the refrigerator.

"Cooking?" He asked.

"Sure." I got up and bumped him out of the way as I got stuff for breakfast out.

I just put all of the events from last night to the back of my mind. I don't need to fill Kindle in on it all.

It'll make things complicated. And I just have to deal with it all later because I can't do this right now.

I just want normal…for just a little bit.

"When do you go back to work?" Nick asked as he sat down and grabbed the biscuits from of the tray.

"Monday." I said as I put the butter in front of him.

"Where do you work?" Kindle asked.

"Ros LM. It's like an office job." I said.

"Is it fun?"

"Hardly but it gives me a break from reality."

Kindle nodded as she took a bite of jelly toast. "True."

Nick sat back.

"So these vampires…."

"Nope…today we don't talk about vampires. Today is a normal day."

"Fine." Kindle put her hands up in surrender.

I looked to Nick who glances at me and then continue eating.

I know that once Remy come back, the subject of werewolves and vampires will be very heavy.

And Unfortunately, because I know Nick will be mad, I have to involve him too.

Nick glanced at me again. "You okay?" He mouthed.

I shook my head as I sat down.

Kindle looked back and forth between us and decided to break the silence. " So, what's on the agenda for today?"

Confront my vampire friend about werewolves. "Uh…I don't know."

Shopping would be okay. I guess. It'll get my mind off of things. "Okay."

James's POV

Bree smiled shyly at me as she sat beside me on the couch,

She smelled like heaven and other things I couldn't place. I constrained her to make her want to stay here and to never leave because I've secretly grown to like her.

The door opened and I heard Christian coming in although I heard him from a mile away.

I got up. This was my chance. Alison basically took all my shit from me and now I'm going to take the one thing she says she loves from her.

I stood up and looked down at Bree and stared down into her eyes.

"Go upstairs to my bedroom." I said staring into her eyes.

She nodded and got up. I turned to Christian who watched Bree as she walked off.

"I need to talk to you."

Christian nodded. "Yes, I should talk to you too."

"You are a very annoying asshole and believe it or not, even more annoying than humans. I don't like the way you talk about her or to her."

"I'm her brother you incompetent bastard, I can talk to her anyway I damn well please and she's not as innocent as you're making her out to be."

"We've all killed." Christian said.

"That's not what I mean, prick."

"Then what the fuck are you talking about?"

"You ever take a second to think about how you became back 'in love' with Alison?"

"I never fell out of love."

I laughed. She has him completely hypnotized. It's very pathetic.

"Yes you did. You fell in love with a human. Lee-na." Her name rolled off my tongue.

"That fucking brunette?"

"You love her and Alison took your blood to gain control over you and hypnotized you into loving her again. Tell me I'm lying."

"Okay, you're fucking lying." He said.

"Why would I lie to you, Christian?"

"Because you hate me."

"You were okay before you became this lovey dovey prick. Now I actually just want to see you back to normal."

"I am normal."

"She took everything from you, Christian. Even your free will. She made you into this demon of a monster."

"I love being a vampire."

"No you don't. You're the only person I know who hates it. I guarantee that once you kill her, you'd go back to normal."

"I'm not going to kill her."

"You do not love her, Christian. You don't go around killing humans. Little girls. You don't rape anyone. That's not who you are."

"I don't believe you."

"Ask her. Watch her hesitation."

Christian glared at me.

"If this pile of bullshit is true, why are you just now telling me?"

"I want the bitch dead. She's ruining everything. Life will be better without her and you have to admit that you agree."

He stared at me completely still.

"Then go upstairs and let me talk to her about it and then you will see."

I could hear her footsteps miles away.

Christian couldn't hear her yet but then his head turned slightly as he began to hear her. He disappeared up the stairs and I smirked.

Alison opened the door a few seconds later with the biggest grin on her face. "What are you so happy about?"

"This human I had. He tasted amazing."

"They all do."

"But this one was different."

"I need to talk to you." I said.

"What?" She asked.

"Tell Christian what you've done to him."

"Because he's becoming out of control and I refused to get blamed for anymore of his or your shit."

"James, I have to keep it this way okay? Understand that."

"Keep it what way?" Christian asked as he slowly descended the stairs.

He leaned against the railing and kept his glare on Alison.

I smiled to myself.

"Something smells like justice." I said under my breath.

Alison looked to me. "You told him." She breathed.

"Uh yeah, I did."

Without another blink between the three of us, Christian was now behind her and a stake was sticking out of her stomach. "You know what I hate about stupid fucking cunts like you?," He asked and then took it out and stuck it through her chest. "You think there's always going to be someone out there that gives a fuck about you but the sad reality," He pulled it out and struck it through her heart making her gasp. "No one will ever give a fuck about you." He stabbed it all the way through until his blood covered fist was sticking out the other side of her body.

"I should have known." He growled in her ear.

Alison had a blank expression on her face as small cracks formed throughout her pale skin.

Blood seeped out.

And her skin slowly became dark to black…

Her eyes dilated fully and within seconds, she morphed into a pile of ashes and fell to the floor.

I stared down at her and felt nothing but relief.

And then looked up at Christian. His eyes were no longer dark red. Nor were they black. But they were his regular light green.

He exhaled and dropped the stake to the floor.

Without a word, he walked out of the house and slammed the door before I could move.
