Chapter 18: Broken Heart

I was sitting at my desk at Ros LM. Boy was I tired. Staying up all night because its what your fiancée have to do is hard work but its not like I can't get used to it.

I already am.

And on our honeymoon after we get married, I want him to keep me up all night.

And I know he will because the sex is so good, its getting to be addictive.

Tom's fast walking got me out of my reverie and I looked up at him and blinked.

He had a bouquet of red roses in his hands and he smiled as he sat them down on my desk.

I blinked as I looked to him.

"These are a congratulations for your engagement." He said.

I smiled at him. "Thank you."

"Yeah, cost a lot too."

I nodded. "Thanks but you really didn't have to do this for me."

"Oh no I wanted to and to take you out." He leaned too close towards me.

"Celebratory dinner!"

"Christian won't be so fond of that."

"Oh, jealous type is he?"

"I don't think any man would be fond of his fiancée doing that."

"He doesn't have to know." He whispered.

I leaned in. "I know, because its not going to happen." I whispered back.

Tom frowned. "Oh, I get it."

"He's one of those guys who will uh," He looked over his shoulder before looking back at me. "kick your ass if he catches you with another guy."

I grimaced.

"He does not have to know, Leena. Okay?"

"Thing is, Tom, that if we go to dinner, it'd have to be after work which is night time. And my fiancée can only come out during night time if you know what I mean." I whispered.

Tom looked at me trying to comprehend and then understanding appeared on his face and his eyes widened.

"Your….f-fiancee is a v-vampire?" He stuttered.

I nodded and smiled. "And he loves feeding off stupid people so unless you want to keep living, I suggest that you leave me alone." I said.

Tom swallowed and stepped back. "S-sure. I-I'll-" He just ran off.

Guess he's scared shitless.

I went onto my lunch break to a little deli two or three blocks away.

As I was eating, someone walked pass me and whispered my name. I looked up and it was Aiden. My eyes grew wide and I quickly scooted back as fear found its way through my body.

"Shh…calm down." He whispered looking around.

I thought I wasn't scared.

I thought that I got through this situation fearlessly.

"Leena, please."

I shook my head. "Stay away from me." I said. My voice cracked and I grabbed my purse and other things and quickly ran out of the deli.

I thought that I wasn't angry because I knew it wasn't him doing it.

Why was I angry and scared now?

And how did he find me?

"Leena!" He called.

I looked back and he was running towards me.

I took off in a run, yes , in the heels and quickly made my way to my car.

I unlocked the door and forced the door open, scratching myself as I rushed in, I slammed the door closed just as Aiden reached the car and he banged furiously on the window.

It started cracking and I shoved the keys into the ignition and started the car.

Aiden, angrily shoved his fist through the window and pulled me.

I screamed and managed to pull myself free.

I floored the car and turned it extremely fast.

It sent me back against my seat.

Glass fell down onto my lap and I zoomed out of the parking lot almost hitting two cars and rolled down the street as fast as I could.

My heart slammed against my chest.

I thought we were friends.

Now I'm scared of him. So maybe I'm not tougher than I look.

I swallowed hard and while driving, grabbed my phone out of my purse.

I was panicked and felt like my head was spinning wildly out of control.

I dialed my boss's number and held the phone to my ear while still driving.

"Hello?" Ellen asked.

"Ellen, I can't come back to work until tomorrow. Emergency."

"Are you okay? You sound like you're crying."

"I'm not. I'll see you tomorrow at eight."

I hung up and then dialed Nick's number.

When he answered, I burst into tears and told him what happened.

Explaining that Aiden found me and tried to hurt me because that's exactly what he was trying to do.

But I didn't know why. Was it because I got away from him before?

"Damnit! Come home, now Leena!"

I looked in my rearview window and my eyes were about to pop out. He was running after the car and he wasn't far behind it.

"Nick, he's following me! What do I do?"

"Shit! Where are you?!" He yelled.

"I'm about to pull up in two minutes!"

"Turn down a street you don't normally turn down."

I nodded and made a quick swerve and another.

I wasn't sure where I was but I made the car make various turns and twists.

I turned back to my normal way and headed home again.

I looked in the rear view mirror and he wasn't there anymore.

I turned briefly and then turned back just as I was pulling into my driveway.

Nick was standing in front of the door with a crossbow in his hands.

He still had that thing?

He ran over to me and opened the car door for me an dropped the crossbow onto the ground and brought me into his arms.

"I won't let him hurt you, Lee." He whispered.

I cried into his chest and pulled on his shirt.

He tried to shush me.

I didn't understand.

Why the hell does everyone have a hit out on me?

Nick sighed. "Come on. It's almost dark." he had helped me into the house after picking up the crossbow.

I got into the living room and I stopped as I saw the long haired brunette sitting on the couch.

Oh you have got to be fucking kidding me.

That time with Aiden and now this.

Nick aimed the cross bow at her.

She kept a small smirk on her face.

"How did you get in here?"

"I've been in your house for two days straight."

"Basement, you should really clean down there." She said.

Then she looked to Nick. "If you were smart, you'd put that away." She whispered to him.

He didn't do anything.

She sighed. "Tell your brother to do as I say before I do something sinister."

I looked to Nick.

"Can you wait for me upstairs, Nick?"

He hesitated but let the crossbow down and sighed.

He turned and ran upstairs.

I looked after him and then my eyes went to Svetlana's.

"What do you want? I have too much shit on my plate already."

"Do I have a look on my face that says I give a fuck?" She asked.

"I don't know what you're doing here what the hell it is you want from me but nothing I say or do will bring Alexander back!"

She glared at me.

"I didn't kill him. You got your explanation from Christian so don't you dare come in my damn house and start putting shit on me!"

"You should watch your mouth, little girl." She said calmly.

I glared at her.

I never felt so angry.

Even though I should be scared, all I could feel now is anger.

Svetlana and I were nose to nose now.

Well, her slightly taller.

Her heels were skinnier and taller than mine.

"I just want to talk. I want every detail."

"What the hell do you want me to say? Alison, James, and Christian went crazy and went on a rampage. They started feeding off of everyone and me, Alexander, Remy and my brother were trying to stop them from killing everyone. Our main goal was for Alison."

"Why?" Svetlana snarled.

"If we killed her, Christian would stop being frenzied. Plus Alexander wanted to kill her because she killed his brother and you did nothing about it."

"You went after my best friend and ended up getting my boyfriend killed."

"Christian did that. Not me and he admitted to it."

"Okay, so who should I take the punishment out on? Think about it, if it wasn't for you, Alison wouldn't have felt the need to do such a thing."

"Then that's her fucking problem. No one asked her to do that or forced her to. It's her goddamn fault."

Svetlana smirked. "How much do you care about Christian?"

"More than you'd ever know or understand." I answered.

Svetlana raised her eyebrow. "He'd be disappointed if I killed you, yet….I want to punish you anyway."

"For what? I didn't do anything."

Svetlana didn't say a word.

She looked out into the window at the approaching of night time.

She cleared her throat.

"Leave now."

"Not until you get the fucking message, Leena. That I am something you should fear."

"I'm not scared though." I said with as much confidence as I could manage.

She raised an eyebrow. "Not scared?"

I shook my head.

Svetlana watched the stairs.

Nick suddenly came downstairs and looked at me.

The next events happened so fast, I couldn't see them.

The only thing I saw next was Svetlana suddenly across the room and her hand through Nick's chest.

My heart stopped.

She pulled something out and I saw that it was his heart.

I could only gasp.

Blood gushed out of his mouth as he looked down at his own heart and then looked into her eyes.

My eyes widened yet I was stuck in my place. I couldn't move a muscle.

Like something was literally keeping me in my place.

Svetlana smiled and looked back at me as she squeezed the heart, making blood gush out.

Nick fell to the floor lifelessly and I screamed in anger.

I could swear I was dreaming or that I was watching a crazy horror flick.

Svetlana dropped the heart and smiled before disappearing.

What was keeping me in my spot was released and I ran to Nick and cried his name.

"No! NO! NICK! PLEASE! NICK!!! PLEASE!" I cried.

I laid my head on his heartless chest and cried hard. Threw fits of anger and clutched his shirt in my fingers.

I let my thoughts ramble on what to do to Svetlana.

On what I wanted to do.

She was gone.

No doubt going back to Russia.

No doubt will I find a fucking stake and drive it through her.

I couldn't hear Nick breathing.

Or his heart beat because his heart wasn't there anymore.

I couldn't stop crying.

Or hollering.

The door burst open and I didn't look up to see who it was.

I just felt something cold hugging me.

He tried to bring me away from Nick but I wouldn't allow it. "Get the fuck off of me!" I screamed.

He released me and stepped away and I continued clutching Nick's shirt.

I couldn't explain this moment.

Why was this happening to me?

It was too much.

Everyone is dying all around me and I didn't know what to do about it.
