I love you
Because you have done
More than any creed
Could have done
To make me good

You have done it
Without a touch,
Without a word,
Without a sign.
You have done it
By being your self.
Perhaps that is what being a friend means,
After all.

- Roy Croft

A New Threat

Bryan

"Bryan! We have to get out of here!"

"I can't leave my men behind Elizabeth! It's my duty-"

"You have another duty! It's to stay with me and love me! Please Bryan!"

"Go with the others, you will not fight in this war. War is not safe for a woman, even for a vampire woman."

Tears of bright blood ran down her porcelain doll face.

"I know my love. I shall return to you when I can."

She grabbed my face and kissed me ferociously, wrapping her legs around me, holding me closer to her. Pulling my hair hashly to where it almost came out of its roots, but I didn't complain.

"After that you better be." She told me as she slid down off of me. I wiped her tears away.

"I promise I'll see you again."

"Bryan!" She yelled, covered in dirt and blood, dress torn to shreds barley covering her. They were holding her arms and that bastard grabbed her neck.

"Elizabeth no!" I ran to her as fast as I could but it was too late, by the time I reached her they had already torn her to pieces.

"NO! You bastards! You murders!" Flashes of red blinded my eye sight then there were screams

* * *

"Jesus Christ!" I gasped as I shot up from that reached nightmare. Sweat rolling down my brow as my lungs took in more air. I look around the dark empty room.

"I know, Elizabeth I know." I got up I wouldn't be able to sleep after that.

My dresser held the only nic- naks I kept from that reached war. The picture of the one I loved and her engagement ring. The picture was all I had left of her.

"Happy anniversary, Elizabeth."

later that day

"I don't want to help. I'm not fighting again."

"You don't have to. It's just like a normal meeting them asking you 'what would you do' 'how would you do this' the normal routine I promise you."

Ugh. Why must he be so persistent? They ask me to join the fight every time! They will never get over that one night...

"Please Bryan, just sit there is all I'm asking you to do. You don't even have to talk just do your weird voodoo thing on me and I'll do it." I cracked a small smile then,

"You know that dream stalking requires you to be asleep."

"Hell I'm always fighting to stay awake at these stupid things anyway." He threw his arm around me Daulton was twice my age in vampire years but physically younger though war aged him. Our creator Gail had created him when he was 19 in human years. He created me when I was 21 and that bastard Justin when he was 20. What I wouldn't give to finish him with my own two hands-

"Dude breathe stop thinking about him." Daulton whispered into my ear.

"I can't help it this place feels like him, and her."

"I know I feel her too. It will be over soon and you can bolt as soon as it's over."

"You didn't have to tell me that."

The council, a bunch of old farts who sat upon their iron thrones and called themselves the Fathers. Just because they were the first vampires in the Americas. I never did like them, their cloudy black eyes and their purple robes with gold clasps. I'm dead and they still give me goose bumps.

"The Grand Father calls for silence!"

The hall was a part of a mansion in the middle of no where. I lived on the third floor fifth door on the left during the war with Elizabeth... haven't been in there since then.

"Will Bryan Williams please stand." God smite me down, as painfully as possible please.

"Bryan we are in need of your wisdom. The Vampyers are recruiting once again, for what we are UN sure-"

"Let me stop you right there. You know exactly why they're recruiting. It's the prophecy." I walked up to the council table. "You may be able to bullshit everyone else, but I am to damn old and to damn tired to deal with your crap. The Vampyers have their prophecy as we do though the way they take it is completely different then ours. It is the same,

"Though they do not know who they truly are

They both will save us all,

One will be a vampire; the other has yet to decide,

They will love each other,

They will work together side by side,

But in the end one shall die."

I tried my very best to sound as mockingly and sarcastically as I could.

"Now I don't know about you but I would have a huge group working on this prophecy."

"Done." They interrupted me

"What?"

"You will be in charge of the prophecy studies."

"You're shitting me right?"

"Nope, you and Daulton are in a great location to start looking for the people of the prophecy. You with your dream haunting and Dalton's speed should make a great team." I heard the sarcasm heavily in his voice.

Councilor Francis, that ass always had it in for me. With his black eyes he told me I had no choice. But I wasn't going to let him get out of it without a price tag.

"Fine if I must, but as you see in order to stay in one place for a long enough period of time we need to enroll in the local High school."

"What are you hinting at?"

"Meaning if you want us to do this little project you must pay for all expenses we will have through out this little project." I fought a smile he was such a cheap bastard he would never-

"Done, you will start in one month."

With the sound of a hammer I had doomed myself for failure.
