COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS

“Hello? Hello! Kenneth, are you there?”

There was only dead silence as Vive listened on her cell phone for Kenneth to respond. She looked at her phone, seeing her Paramore welcome screen, but no connection.

What in the...

Vive clicked through her phone’s menu and looked for received or missed calls. There weren’t any.

“Oh yeah, schizo! I hate it when that happens.” Vive laughed at herself. She just imagined Kenneth called. But she really wanted it to be Fred. Who knows why the mind brings irrelevant hallucinations at the strangest times. Either way, she shrugged it off and went back to sleep.

Saturday

Only a strong mind can endure “not knowing.” Vive’s stubborn spirit refused to let her schizophrenia stop her from living. She had no choice but to deal with it. Like it or not, it’s a part of her life.

Waking in her full-size foam-bed is like floating up from the depths of the ocean. Vive felt the rush of life filling her body as her senses turned on. She knew there was a big parent/daughter talk waiting downstairs. If anything, her mother was consistent with what she says. And she did say they will talk in the morning.

Vive welcomed the talk, wanting to piece together the WHY’S so she can move on. It’s strange how Jenna’s death brought her to Dr. Freddrick. Not that she wished it. This tragedy closed one door and opened another. Vive hoped Fred would come to love her more than a patient.

Cathy came upstairs and was about to knock on Vive’s door when it opened.

“Hi mom.” Vive hugged her mother.

“Oh, you’re awake. I was going to ask what you wanted for breakfast.” Cathy had the after-sex glow all over her face. Her smile had the look of a well-fucked woman, completely satisfied.

“IHOP.” Vive answered quickly, wondering why her mother was so cheerful.

“I knew you were going to say that.” Cathy grinned at her daughter, noticing how beautiful and mature she looked. “Oh my, I almost forgot your birthday next week Saturday!”

“It’s not a big deal, mom.”

“No, no, no, we’re going to give you a sweet 17 party. If you want just us, it will be just us. But if you want to invite some friends???” Cathy looked at her daughter trying to see if she wanted a big party.

Vive’s hazel eyes lit up. What girl doesn’t want a spectacular party, one year before becoming an adult? She already knew want she wanted for her present. Vive imagined handsome Dr. Simmons, doing a strip-dance for her viewing pleasure…

Cathy took Vive’s dreamy reaction as a big YES. So she logged the event into her smart phone. “Good, go freshen up. Then you and I will eat at IHOP.”

“Daddy’s working this morning?”

“Yeah, someone’s got to bring home the beef.” Cathy mused, thinking back to her husband’s yummy man-meat.

“Don’t you mean bacon, mom?”

“No, I mean grade AAA beef!” Cathy grinned a little too much.

“Gross! Mom, I just lost my appetite.” Vive realized where she got her perverted humor.

Cathy chuckled, heading downstairs. “I’ll be waiting in the car.”

Vive quickly washed her face, looking at the mirror. She never saw herself as super beautiful but knew she was cute. Her curvaceous, maturing, tight body, helped as well. After she finished washing, she brushed her light-brown hair, putting in 2 yellow hair clips. She wore her skinny gray jeans and a matching gray shirt. Then she went downstairs, through the garage door, and got in her mother’s silver Lexus.

Mother and daughter drove off to IHOP and spent the rest of the day strengthening their relationship. They spent sometime at the mall, trying on different outfits. Then they visited the spa and had massages from Asian men. Vive felt so pampered and so did her mother. Towards the end of the day, they talked about Jenna, missing her mostly but also wondering. Cathy finally felt confident with Vive and began looking forward to her birthday party. They both needed it.

Sunday

This morning was just like yesterday except Vive’s father was off while Cathy went to work.

Daniel knocked on Vive’s door, nervously rubbing his black beard. “Hey baby, are you up?”

“Let me guess, father/daughter day?” Vive spoke from the other side of her door.

“You know it!” Daniel made a pathetic attempt to sound hip.

Vive opened her door and gave her dad a hug. “I feel so spoiled. You’re really spoiling me.” She smiled at her dad.

“Well, I’m sorry we never did much with you two.” Daniel paused, realizing he referenced to Jenna as if she were still alive. “But your mom and I were always working. We wanted you to have the best life, the best start, and the best of everything.”

“We did, do have everything.” Vive agreed humbly.

“So, I hear you’re going to be 17 soon.” Daniel pulled his daughter into a headlock and gave her a nuggy, playfully grinding his knuckle on her head.

“Hey! I’m not a little girl anymore, daddy.” Vive giggled, trying to break her father’s strong lock.

“Please don’t tell me that. I can’t imagine you having a boyfriend, going out on a date, and…” Daniel released her.

“Don’t say it!” Vive’s face turned red, covering her ears.

“Having sex.” Daniel’s voice whispered in embarrassment.

“Oh god, I can’t believe you think I’m…” Vive had many fantasies but in reality she was still a virgin. Right now, the only person she wanted to give it to AGAIN, was Fred. The doctor showed a deep understanding, caring, and devotion for her.

“Oh no, please don’t say you are...” Daniel grew concerned worried about the dreamy look in Vive’s eyes.

“Hell NO, I’m not a slut!” Vive frowned childishly.

Daniel sighed in relief. “For a moment there, I thought I had to buy you birth control and condoms.”

Vive’s mouth dropped open, stunned.

“Okaaaaay, now that we got that out of the way. Let’s do something fun!” Daniel suggested, unable to look directly at his beautiful daughter.

Vive decided she wanted to go to the lake. She knew shopping was torture on her father and spared him the anguish. They got a row boat and spent all day at camp: fishing, boating, and hiking. They stopped rowing at a beautiful waterfall, just enjoying the serenity of nature. The smell of fresh river water and pine trees, the sound of its rushing song, all made her feel like she was in a world free of problems.

They had the best father/daughter talk ever. Daniel was not really one for talking. He let Vive do all the talking. Vive knew her family suffered a very big loss. Maybe it drove them closer together. She secretly thanked Jenna in her mind, hoping her sister was in a better place.

Monday – Friday

School wasn’t as hard as she expected. Many students knew about Jenna’s suicide and quietly gave their respects to Vive. They walked around her wanting to say something but remained silent. Even the teachers keep a quiet respect around Vive.

Fortunately, no one knew why Vive left school for a month. They though it was for mourning. Vive was happy no one knew. Otherwise she would be seen as a freak. Well, she was a freak already. Her admission to a mental hospital would make her the talk all over school, a spotlight she didn’t want.

Every time Vive saw some kids kissing in the bathroom or behind the building, she thought of Fred. She didn’t understand why everyone else seems so alien and Fred felt normal. But the heart wants what the heart wants.

A few of Jenna’s close friends did visit Vive and told her they were sorry for her loss. Jenna’s BFF, Susan, a black-haired Mexican girl, asked why Jenna did it. But Vive remained silent to her questions, shrugging her shoulders.

The subject of Vive’s birthday party came up. Since Vive didn’t have any close friends of her own, she inherited Jenna’s friends. Susan was the first to welcome Vive into Jenna’s circle of friends. She knew it was Vive’s birthday because she was Jenna’s twin. So she offered to plan it for Vive.

“Nothing too big, just a small get together at my house, okay?” Vive warned Susan.

“Oh don’t worry. I know EXACTLY what to do. We were planning it for Jenna. I guess you’ll just have to sit in for her.” Susan assured with a wicked grin. Because Vive and Jenna were identical twins, the other students simply replaced Jenna with her. It felt awkward. For the first time, she was Miss Barbie without the blonde hair and bubbly personality.

Something about it made Vive feel paranoid. But she was already paranoid so she said, “fuck it. Let’s do this thing.”

Vive avoided Kenneth whenever she could. And for some reason he avoided her as well. But then she saw why.

He was going out with Susan!

The blonde haired stud had his arms around Susan’s neck, kissing her in public like she was his property. The arrogant look in his blue eyes made it very clear.

Part of Vive was happy because she didn’t want to brush him off and part of her was sad because she enjoy his attention. But that was then and this is now. Oh how quickly he moved on. Vive kept counting down the days till her next session with Fred, a real man.

~~~
Friday Afternoon
Finally, Vive arrived at New Haven Sanctuary. She seemed so giddy to see Dr. Simmons. Cathy noticed Vive’s excitement. Vive’s parents stopped at the parking lot and escorted Vive to the reception desk.
They signed her in for a 1 hour session as expected.
“Should we wait here?” Daniel asked to his wife.
“I don’t know. Do you want us to wait here, Vive?” Cathy looked at her daughter.
“Nah, it’ll be boring for you guys. Just go for a drive or something. I don’t want you worrying. Besides, have you noticed some of the people in this place? I mean they are a little (Vive made a crazy gesture with her hands).”
“Okay baby. We’ll be back in an hour.” Daniel nodded, partially winking at his wife.
“What? Again!?” Cathy gasped at her husband’s innuendo.
“Gross!” Vive rolled her eyes and went in to see her favorite doctor in the whole world.
“Do you know another way to kill time?” Daniel grinned at his wife, dragging her out of the hospital.
Why is everyone having REAL sex except me? Vive wondered to herself. “I must be cursed.” She said out loud.
“Excuse me?” Nurse Sandy looked at Vive.
“Oh nothing.” Vive smiled as Sandy opened the door to Dr. Simmons’s therapy room. It wasn’t his office. This room had the most comfortable leather couch with a colorful fish tank and filtered air. Everything about this room spelled peace, relaxation, comfort, and safety.
“The doctor will be in shortly. Please make yourself comfortable.”
“Thank you.” Vive looked around, smelling coffee and tea on a maroon serving table. It also had some sugar and peanut butter cookies.
As soon as the door closed, Vive stripped off her red wind-breaker jacket and long pants, revealing a baby blue tank top and sheer blue booty shorts. Her smooth legs were hairless. She kicked off her white tennis shoes to show off her red painted toe-nails. One look at her flat tummy, ample tits, round ass, sexy legs, and cute face should drive her doctor insane. Then he would have to admit himself inside her asylum.
The door opened just as Vive made her sexiest pose on the couch.
