Shock of My Life
Two Months Later
No, it cannot be! I took a whole box of pregnancy tests, and bought another box. I took four pregnancy tests and all of them, all four, is positive. I sat down on the toilet at the tattoo shop and I looked down at the floor of the four positive pregnancy tests. I knew something felt weird when I didn’t have a period for almost two months. I have gained probably five pounds as well and I am constantly nauseated. “Amy, I need to pee!” Dana yelled and I gathered the pregnancy tests and threw them in the trash bin. I washed my hands and stepped out, letting Dana pass through me. Christian walked in through the door as he tossed his cigarette on the sidewalk and I looked away. “Morning Amy,” Christian said and I just waved. How am I going to tell him? We haven’t talked about that night two months ago since the next morning. Dana rushed out the bathroom and slammed the four pregnancy tests on the counter and I looked away. “You’re pregnant?” Dana whispered and I snorted.
“No Dana, Paris Hilton came in here and took them…yes I am pregnant!” I whispered and sat down. “Oh God, what am I going to do? My own mother doesn’t even know about me having drunken sex with the tattoo artist!”
“Don’t worry about your mom, worry about Christian. You need to tell him that he’s gonna be a dad!” Dana has a point, and since we just opened, I stood up and walked over to his room and he is cleaning up. Christian looked up and he grinned a little. When he looked into my eyes, his smile faded. “What’s wrong, Amy?” He asked and I sat down on the table and put my hands in my lap. How am I going to tell him, just right out say it? I guess it’s the way to go.
“I am pregnant, Christian. It’s your baby, I haven’t had sex since that night with you,” I said and he froze. He went to the window and ran his fingers through his hair and I began to feel scared. “Say something, Christian!” I pleaded and he turned around and looked at me.
“How are we going to do this, Amy? We barely know each other, had sex when we we’re drunk and I knocked you up! You better not exclude this baby out of my life!” Christian said and I started to feel angry now. He has NO reason to be mad at me. He should have put on a condom!
“If you wanted me so bad that night, maybe you should have worn a condom! Of course you will be in this baby’s life. I have to make an appointment with my OB/GYN to get started on the care and get the due date!”
“Can I come? I am the dad for Christ’s sake!”
“If you are not busy working, then yeah!” Dana came in and she looked at us both with worry.
“We got customers, Christian, you need to prepare the stencil,” Dana said and he nodded.
“We will finish this conversation later,” he said and he walked out. I am right behind him and I stepped outside and made my appointment to see my OB, Dr. Jacoby. He is known in this city as the best OB/GYN. My appointment is in two days at two in the afternoon. I walked back inside and Christian is in the back doing stencil. I made my way through and when I got him alone I sighed.
“This Friday at two o’clock. If you’re serious about wanting to be in this baby’s life, I expect you there,” I said and before I walk out, Christian stood up and I gasped. I try and forget how sexy this man is, but his annoying personality makes me not want to be around him.
“I’ll be there, I will be unavailable until we get back that day. I will be involved in this child’s life, and I don’t want the involvement made by the court system,” Christian said and I shook my head. What is he asking me to do? He is talking about child support and visitation rights, I don’t want that either!
“Then what do you suggest we do, Christian?” I asked him and I leaned against the wall and he ran his fingers through his hair and then sighed.
“I think we should move in together.” My world stopped. I just stared at him and then I began to laugh. We had ONE night with each other, he gets me pregnant and now he wants me to move in? That’s just too funny! “I don’t think it’s funny at all, Amy. I either move in with you or you move in with me. We don’t even have to sleep together, I got a spare room at my place.”
“I know it’s not funny, but it’s just funny that you suggested that. Why in the hell do you think I wanna move in with you? I would never kick Dana out of my place so YOU can move in!”
“That’s the only way I can see my child everyday like I want to.” I can see the seriousness in his eyes. Christian really wants to be in this baby’s life. He is already more of a father than my own. He wants to be around! I closed my eyes and ran my fingers through my ponytail then looked at him. I just need time to adjust to this pregnancy first, then I can decide if I can move in with Christian. He said I didn’t have to sleep with him, I will be in my own bed, by myself, just living with my baby’s daddy.
“Let me think about it, Christian. I just found out that I’m pregnant. Whenever I adjust to that, I will decide if I will move in, okay?” I said and he nodded.
“Have all the time you need, Amy. I have to adjust to being a father. Now, about this stencil…” we went from parent mode to co-workers mode. Christian can be quite annoying, but he is dealable. He can be a sweetie at times, mainly annoying.
