Author's Note: Hey guys, I wanted to make this story longer but I lost interest since I started writing another story called "The Master of Sex" Which I will be posting in two days but I won't post any character pics. This will be the only story where that's not the cae because I want you all to have them have their own personal look in your heads. (If that makes any sense) Anywho. Enjoy and things were not supposed to happen like this. So sorry but I didn't want to quit. I wanted to finish so I did. I don't know how you'll all feel about these chapters but we'll see won't we?
Chapter 10: The unexpected visitor
When I walked into the bar, I went straight for my apron. I was against going to work today because I'm still sore from last night. But I had a feeling today was going to be a pretty good day minus the fact that Zane's ex invaded his house this morning.
I grabbed my pen and paper and the second I did, I turned and Jesse was leaning against the wall, smirking at me.
I raised my eyebrow, smiling at her. "What?"
"You did it last night, didn't you?"
My eyes grew big. Lying is my best defense right now. "What? No. W-What would draw you to that…c-conclusion?"
"The face-splitting grin on your face and you're an hour late."
"Hey," Lee walked to us and looked to me. "I had to get some of the orders done for you."
He nods. "No problem. What's with the grin on your face? Did you have sex last night or something?"
"She did not have sex last night. She got fucked. There's a huge difference." Jesse stated.
Lee patted my shoulder. "Good for you." He smiled and walked away.
I looked to Jesse, my smile now gone. "You just had to get in my business didn't you?"
"It's my job." She said shrugging.
I rolled my eyes.
I started to take orders and serve people their food. I wasn't going to be at work long. Zane's getting off early with me so we can go meet my mom and dad. Keiran and Pepper.
When Zane walked into the bar, it was like everything else was a blur. He was the center. The center of…everything.
The center of my universe.
I decided that he was when he told he loved me last night.
I looked away from him and tried to distract myself with work.
After serving a man a pitcher of beer and a plate of chicken and slaw, I decided to go on break.
I went to Zane's office and knocked on the door.
I opened the door and peeked inside. "Can I come in?"
"You don't have to knock anymore, you know."
"Oh." I came in and shut the door. I leaned against it. "What time are we leaving?" I asked.
"We could leave now actually."
I shook my head. "No. We're busy. Might as well stay a little longer."
"Okay." He looks distant.
"You're not mad because of her still, are you?"
His eyebrows furrow and he shakes his head. "She's the furthest thing from my mind."
He nods. "I'm sure."
I feel like he wants to be alone for some reason. I nod. "Okay. I'm just going to get back to work."
He shakes his head and stands. "I'm sorry." He grabs my hand and pulls me towards him. "I'm very sorry. I just hate that she showed up like that. She has to be the most depressing human being to be around. I didn't want her to speak to you or for you to speak to her because I knew nothing but nonsense was going to come out of her mouth."
"I'm not worried about her, Zane."
"I'm not either. Her presence just…really, really bothered me."
I took his face between my hands and leaned forward. I just wanted to distract us both.
The second our lips touched, everything else was gone from my mind. Particularly Veronica.
I wrapped my arms around his neck, getting lost in his touch as his hands slid to my hips.
My eyes fluttered close.
Zane turned us around and pushed me onto his desk.
My hands went to his shirt, as I tried to pull it apart.
I got it open and it fell onto the floor.
"We don't have long." He whispered.
I nodded. "I know." I whispered back as I quickly unbuckled his belt with my clumsy fingers.
When I got it unbuckled, he grabbed my hands, forcing them away and pulled my shirt up over my head and threw it down.
His lips latched on mine once again. His fingers latch into my hair, and he pushes himself between my legs.
The door swings open and I gasped and push Zane away from me reflexively.
Jesse stared at us and then shrugged like everything is normal. "In the office? I guess it makes sense."
Zane picked his shirt up from the floor and gave me mine.
I hopped off of his desk and slid my shirt back on.
"What do you need, Jesse?" Zane asked.
Jesse looks to me. "There's a man out here asking for you."
I raise my brow. "What?"
"He's kinda cute," She looks to Zane. "You got some competition, man."
Zane glances at me.
I shake my head and walk out of the room, out to the front where everyone else is.
My eyes search the tables and my eyes stop on a face.
A familiar face.
A face I never wanted to see ever again.
His light gray eyes were on mine.
My eyes grew wide.
I could feel my throat tightening.
Zane stopped beside me and looked to me. "Nikki?"
My eyes stayed on Damien.
"Nikki." He shakes my shoulder.
"Why is he here?" I whisper.
Zane looks to Damien and then back to me. "Is that him?"
I nodded wordlessly. "Yeah. That's him. That's….that's Damien."
Zane sighs and releases my shoulder and began walking towards him.
No. No oh no.
I grab his arm and yank him back as much as I can. He looks at me confused and irritated. "No. I have to go over there. I have to do this or he won't leave."
"I don't want you going over there alone."
"Zane, I have to talk to him. If I don't….."
I shrugged. "That's exactly it. I don't know."
I release his hand and slowly walk over to Damien's table.
He stares at me, expressionless as I walk to his table. As I arrive and looked at him, a small knowing smirk came to his face. "Nikita."
"What do you want?"
"How did you find me?"
"My dad got in contact with your dad but didn't tell Keiran that he wanted to locate you for me.I missed you."
"Get out of my bar."
He raises his brow and glance behind me and then looks back to me. "Is that your guy over there glaring at me?"
I nod. "Yeah, it is."
"Yeah, so why are you here again?" I ask.
"Because I went to the hospital. And things are better than they were before."
"You said that before and I ended up with burn marks all over the back of my neck."
Damien wet his lips. "I know. I know and I'm sorry, Nikita. What I did, there is no explanation. None. Please believe that I'm sorry."
"I can't. I can't even try to."
His eyes look behind me.
I turn and Zane is right behind me, glaring at Damien.
Damien gives an obviously fake smile. "You must be Zane."
"Yeah, I am."
Damien nods, the smile still creepily on his face. It looks forced. "And the word on the street is that you're fucking my girlfriend."
My eyes grew wide.
Whoa. Two things!
Two very alarming things!
One: Why in the hell would he ever call me his girlfriend? I did not belong to him. At all. Whatsoever.
Two: Who told him about how deep me and Zane's relationship is?
"Who told you that?" I asked.
"Doesn't matter. I see it's the truth. That's what matters."
"I'm not your business."
"For now. But you will be. Very, very soon. I promise that to you."
Damien smiles. "Oh I have been. You're all I dream about."
"Okay, Nikki, go to my office." Zane says as he grabs my hand.
I snatch it away and glare at Damien. I lean against the table. "Stay away from me. Never come back here."
Damien slides out of the booth and stand, making me step back. "I can't do that. I can't just stay away. You know how many months I had to stay away? You think I'm going to be able to separate from you again?"
Zane moves me back and steps in front of me.
"Stay away from her."
Damien's eyes stay on mine, ignoring Zane's presence. "I will get you alone again. I promise you."
His words, the way he said them caused chills of fear to run over my body.
I stepped back more, his words bringing realization. I was no longer safe.
