Chapter 3: Date night
I look in the mirror at the blue dress I have on.
"No." Melissa said. She was sitting on my bed reading a magazine.
"Why not?" I asked.
She puts the magazine down. "It's too….mother Theresa."
I glare at her and she smiles. "Look, I'm sorry but its really grandma-ish. Which is why I brought over some dresses."
"You didn't have to do that." I said turning to her.
She shrugged. "You're letting me move in with you. I am doing you a favor." She gets off the bed and heads downstairs.
Since she had epilepsy, I wanted her to stay with me. I just need her to be close to me. It was kind of sad. She used to work at Nipples but she had a seizure right in the middle of a dance and me and Claudia rushed her to the hospital.
Now she worked at an office as an assistant which is what she wanted all along.
She came back upstairs with hangers with dresses on them. First one was an aquamarine color. "Wow its pretty." I said.
She smiled and jumped onto the bed. "Yeah, my first boyfriend gave me that during prom night. That's when I lost my virginity."
"You have no idea how many times you've told me this story."
Then there was a red one. "Talk about my dress looks grandma-ish." I said holding up the red one.
"My grandmother didn't want any boys touching me on prom night so she bought me that so I wouldn't end up pregnant like she did."
I laughed. "I remember Fi." I said. Fiona Devonna Oats. The grandmother of my best friend and my susbstitute grandmother. She died in a car accident.
"Oh I miss her. She treated me better than you."
"I know she did. That was so not fair. She let you eat all the cookies." Melissa faked pouted and it made me giggle.
I put the red dress aside. Then a dark green short spaghetti strap dress popped up and I fell in love. "Oh my god."
"My dad has great taste." She said proudly.
I put it up against my body. It was amazing. "Oh yeah, Where is he?" I asked.
"On his honeymoon."
"Oh he remarried to someone else?"
She nodded. "A designer."
"Guess she was doing more than designing his clothes."
Melissa clucked her tongue. "She's a he." She said.
I looked at her. "Are you serious?"
She nodded and shrugged. "Who cares through? He gives me great clothes."
I giggled. That was Melissa. Not a care in the world.
"So that guy…..when can I meet him?"
"He comes to Nipples like every night. You should come meet him tomorrow night."
Melissa nodded. "Ooh. Does your boyfriend go there?"
"He's not my boyfriend and yes. He watches me from the bar. As does Tyler."
"They both want you?" I shrugged. "Tyler is perverted."
"My type of man." Melissa grinned.
After showering, I put on the green dress and I liked the way it fit. I put my hair in a side pony tail and put on some of Melissa's black pumps.
"How do I look?" I asked.
"Like a stripper in a dress." She answered.
"Thanks." I said sarcastically.
She nods once. My phone rings and I pick it up. "Hello?" I asked.
"Hey, its me."
"Hi me. How can I help you?"
"You can help me by coming outside."
"I thought we were meeting at the restaurant."
"I know but I wanted to pick you up. Come on outside."
" I'll be out there in a minute."
"Okay." I hung up and hugged Melissa before running downstairs and out of the door. I'm so excited for this date.
Ellis is wearing a nice dark blue suit and black tie. I grab the tie and pull him to me and we kiss. Thoughts of last night came to my head. How we spent almost the whole night kissing. "My lips still hurt." I said. He laughed lightly. "Sorry." He opened the door for me and I got in and he got in on the other side.
He pulls off and I look to him. "You look really nice tonight." I said.
He smiles a boyish grin. "Thanks. That dress is very pretty on you."
"Thank you." We were in silence until we got to the restaurant. We sat at a table in the middle of the room. It was elegant and beautiful. "I never been on a real date before." I said.
"Really? No guys ever…"
"Oh they have but a lot of them were intolerable."
The waiter came to us asked us what drinks we wanted. I ordered a glass of red wine and so did Ellis.
"How long have you been working there?" He asked.
"Since I was eighteen. Had to make a living someway."
"That's quite a way to make it." He said smiling and I grinned. "What do you do for living?"
"I'm a car salesman."
"So I'm sitting across a guy that sells cars. Interesting."
"And I'm sitting in front of a girl who can lose herself while dancing half naked. Even more interesting."
I shook my head.
"And Tyler. What does he do?"
"He owns his own businesses. He's an entrepreneur."
"You like him don't you?"
"The pretty girls don't fall for me. It's always him."
"Well then I must be ugly because I don't give a fuck about him." I said.
Ellis smiles and takes a sip of wine. "I'm quite glad to hear that. And you're very beautiful."
I blush just as the waiter comes back to get our orders. I order the pot roast with potatoes, carrots and string beans while Ellis orders the lobster.
"So, you never been with anyone since…your step dad."
I shook my head as I dabbed a piece of pot roast in a puddle of hot sauce and ate it.
"Well….kind of." I said.
"What does "kind of" mean?" He asked.
I bit my lip. Oh god. "I was with my best friend."
"Oh. He must have been lucky."
"He's a she." I said. Ellis placed his knife and fork down. "You were with a girl?" He asked. He didn't sound mad.
I nodded. "I'm a bisexual." I admitted.
He smiles. "Wow. That is great."
"Well not great, great. I'm just glad you told me the truth instead of trying to hide it from me. Like you did with your step dad. You're quite the honest girl."
"I've got nothing to hide." I said shrugging.
"That's great because neither do I."
I smile at him. I can really see myself with Ellis. I like the way he is. His carefree personality. I like making him laugh and he makes me laugh.
He makes me happy and excited. And when he kisses me…..oh when he kisses me…
After dinner, we went to the beach and walked along the shore. The wind was blowing lightly as we walked in silence. The only sound was the water.
"So…guess what." He said. I look at him, automatically smiling when he smiles. "What?" I asked.
"I like you." He said.
"You sound like a middle schooler."
"I know." He said. I giggle and put my fingers through his boldly.
"I like the sound of your laugh." He said. I looked up at him. His eyes burning with desire.
I lean up and I kiss him.
He brings me in his arms and I moan in his mouth as our bodies touch and I feel him through his pants. Butterflies are in my stomach. Fluttering away like there's no tomorrow. I'm so attracted to this man that it scares me.
Can I give this man…..me?
When he lets go, he smiles lightly. "I like the way you feel." He whispered. I wanted more. So much more.
"You too." I whispered and continued kissing him.
When I got home, it was about three in the morning. Melissa confronted me and put her hands on her hips.
"You fucked him didn't you?"
"No. I'm not ready."
"But you're already not a virgin. What's the problem?"
"I want my first time to be special and not in the front of a broke down pickup truck."
"That was only because Daeton Jorners got me drunk that night."
"So what did you two do?" She asked.
"We ate, talked, and made out on the beach. It was pretty special. I really like him." I said as I pulled off my heels and threw them in the corner. I looked back to Melissa. "I'm sorry is this weird? I mean…you are my ex and I'm talking to you about-"
"Karlie, we were together years ago. It's not awkward. I'm happy that you like someone. I honestly am." She said. I walked over and hugged her.
