Chapter 11: To have your dreams shot down
The song “Eyes of Fire” was playing. It was the remix and the music moved me. My body. Everything. I was in a dark blue lacy bra. Blue lacy thong and little skirt to go with it. My hair moved from off my back as I grabbed onto the pole and tipped my head all the way back, shutting my eyes.
It actually felt good to be back on stage. Away from drama. From my problems. The love triangle. I hate love triangles. They’re so lame.
Yet here I was in one. I now accepted the fact that I was in love with Tyler. It wasn’t a realization I’ve come across just because we had sex, I realized that he was someone that was very special. Loyal, important, smart, funny and sweet when he wanted to be and I know he cares about me. By now he wouldn’t have done all he could to get me if he didn’t.
He would have just moved on.
But he didn’t. For some reason, he tried all that he could to try to get me. And now here I am, wanting him.
I let my hands roam over my body and let the music make me lose myself. I was completely taken over. Taken control of.
I opened my eyes and looked out to my audience, and my eyes met Tyler’s who was leaning against the bar, watching me as a girl was trying to get his attention.
I kept my eyes on him and got down to my knees, feeling on myself.
I felt like I was only dancing for him now. Only him.
I knew it was wrong. It was wrong but it was what I wanted. I wanted to dance for him. Only him. I chewed on my lip, shutting my eyes, making myself look completely irresistible…for him.
I have to tell Ellis. I have to tell him the truth.
Because I can’t take it anymore.
I want Tyler.
I honestly want him.
I got to my feet, onto my six inch stilletto black heels. And grabbed onto the pole again and bent over.
The audience went wild. Another song came on, blasting throughout the club and I picked up the dance. I hopped onto the pole, spreaded my legs and flipped upside down, getting another cheer.
I shook my hips and my ass and did what I could to make every single guy in that audience hard as a rock and I think I succeeded as I got off the stage.
Madison, Cassett, and Minnie were up next as I went into the dressing room. Claudia was brushing her long hair, not as dramatic as it normally is.
She looked at me. “I saw you out there. You looked pretty damn sexy, girl.”
“Thanks.” I said and grabbed a black hoody from the couch. I took my heels off and tucked my hair behind my ear.
“How was your trip? We never talked about it.”
“Unexpected things happened. I don’t know how it was really was.”
“I swear that uh…Tyler kid sure as hell know how to come through. Nipples is staying mine.”
I smiled. “Yeah, I’m glad. I actually love this place. I’m glad you’re going to keep it.”
Claudia nodded and let her hair fall down over her shoulders. She looked at me. “Let me give you a word of advice, Little K.”
I sat down and looked up at her.
She sighed and then sat down on the pale gray coffee table in front of the couch I was sitting on.
“I know you’re with Ellen.”
“Whatever.” She rolled her eyes. Then she continued. “I can see the attraction between you and Tyler. The shit is obvious…but…I can’t see it ending well.”
My eyebrows furrowed. “What do you mean?”
“I trust Ellis more is what I’m saying.”
“Claudia, I do too but Tyler…he..he’s what I want.”
She hesitated then shrugged. “You’re right. Do what you feel you should do.”
“Alright I will.” I stood up and walked out of the room, out toward the bar where Tyler was looking at me as if he expected to see me.
He gave me a dark look.
“We need to talk, Tyler.”
He nodded. “I know.” He turned and I followed him out of the club and into the alley beside it.
Tyler leaned against the brick wall. Looking up and down the alley, it reminded me of that night when Tyler beat that guy up who almost tried to rape me.
Then I looked at him.
“I’m going to tell Ellis that…”
“What?” He asked.
“That I can’t be with him anymore.”
Tyler cocked his head to the side as his eyebrow raised. “And why can’t you?”
“Because I…” I sighed.
“I feel deeper about someone else.” I answered.
Tyler smirked. “And whose that?” He asked.
I gave him a look that made him smile. “Figures.” He grabbed me and pushed me up against the wall and stared into my eyes. “What do you want?” He asked. His minty breath on my face.
“I guess that…what I want…is you.” I said.
I shook my head. “No, I-” His lips were on mine. Dominating me. I parted my lips as his tongue entered my mouth. I couldn’t push him away. I didn’t want to. My fingers went into his hair, my eyes closed, I moan deeply into his mouth as he pressed himself against me. I cold feel him, thick and erect.
It was a moment I’d never forget.
Because I knew the truth. I knew I was in love with Tyler. I’ve been fighting it since day one.
“Tyler.” I breathed.
He pulled away for air and exhaled. “What?” He asked.
“I love you.” I whispered.
My eyes opened and I sat up in my bed. Whoa…wait…this was all a dream? Shit!!!
Someone banged on my door breaking me out of my shock. I got up out of bed and put my robe on before opening my door. I peeked down the hall. “Melissa?” I called. No answer.
I walked down the stairs and went to the window. It was Ellis. I exhaled and opened the door.
He walked in pass me and exhaled. “Did you sleep with him, Karlie?”
“What?” I asked as I closed the door and looked to him. Ellis sighed. He leaned against the back of the couch. He looked like he hadn’t slept for a while.
“Did you or did you not fuck Tyler?”
“I didn’t.” I said. The lie came out smoothly.
Ellis shook his head. “Something had to have happened so just tell me.”
I felt the tears threatening to come out. “I just…”
“You what?” He said bitterly.
“All that happened was…” I shrugged.
“Spit it the fuck out, Karlie.”
“We did have sex.” I blurted out.
Ellis gave me the darkest look I’ve ever seen. He breathed out through his nose. He came over to me and shook his head. “You’re just like all the other whores he fucks with. Your stupid ass is gonna get hurt and when he does hurt you, I won’t be there. We’re done. Don’t call me, don’t text me anymore.”
“I saw this coming from since the moment I met you Karlie.”
“You damn right you are.” He opened the door and slammed it shut making my heart thump fast and me jump.
That did not go on at all like I thought it would.
I just stood there trying to understand how and why this had to happen. Me and Ellis had a pretty good relationship, so why did I have feelings for Tyler?
After about a couple of hours of cleaning up to distract myself, I picked up the phone and dialed Tyler’s number.
Damnit. I need to distract myself. Like majorly. I dialed Claudia’s number and put the phone to my ear.
“Claudia, I know its my day off but I need to come in to get my mind off things. Is that okay?”
“Sure, Madison is out with the flu anyway.”
“Thanks. I’ll be there in a few minutes.”
I hung the phone up and went upstairs to take a shower. When I got out I combed through my hair and was off to Nipples.
The club was surprisingly crowded ad maybe dancing for these men who can’t have me will distract me for a little bit.
I arrived, got dressed and got right up there, dancing harder and sexier than I ever have before. And maybe it was because I was imagining Tyler there watching me. Just like in my dream.
How could I tell him I wanted him? But it would be like he was my second choice and I didn’t want that. It wasn’t fair.
When I got off stage, I pulled on a pair of jogging pants and a jean jacket. Minnie and Claudia were too busy talking to notice me leaving. I went out to the bar and asked for a shot of whiskey. I don’t normally drink it but it seems about the right moment to start. This was the climax of the situation.
The door burst open and Melissa came running in. I looked at her, my eyes wide. “What’s wrong?” I asked.
“Ellis and Tyler were in a car accident!”
