Chapter 22

I laid my head back against the couch and closed my eyes, my classes were going to kill me, who knew college was going to be so hard? They had let me two reports and a project that I was supposed to turn in on Monday, I had done the project and one of the reports, now I was trying to finish the other one, but the truth was that my head wasn't in it.

I kept thinking of what happened with Hunter, that hadn't been the way I'd wanted him to find out, not that he deserved much better, but to find out that the person he planned to screw over was the owner of his father's debt, that had to hard. When Joshua had told him about my grandmother he had just look at me for about ten minutes and then had left without saying anything, that had been two days ago and for what Joshua had told me they hadn't talk since then.

I looked back at my laptop and the letters mocked me, I didn't even know what I had written.

"You need to eat something" I looked up to see Maria with a tray in her hands "you been in front of that computer for the last five hours, you need a break and to eat something"

"I didn't realize I've been doing it for that long" she put the tray in front of me and I gave her a small smile "Where is my grandma? I haven't seen her in a while"

"She had to go out, she had a meeting with the board of directors" another thing I had learned about my grandmother was that she was a very busy woman, she had a lot of money, but she liked to run things herself "she said she'll be back in time for dinner and to let her know if you have any plans of going out tonight"

"I don't have any plans"

The doorbell rang and Maria left to open the door, I took a sip of the lemonade and stretched my legs in front of me, maybe Maria was tight and it was time to take a break, my head felt like it was about to explode, I could finish the report tonight or tomorrow, there was still time.

"Miss Clark" I took another sip of the lemonade and looked at Maria "there is a young lady that wants to see you, she looks very distressed"

"Did she gave you her name?"

"Yes, she said her name is Erin"

"Tell her to come in and then leave us alone please" a minute later Erin came into the room, her eyes were red and swollen from crying and I knew this had something to do with Liam, what ha he done to her? I put the lemonade on the table and stood up "Erin? What's wrong?"

She didn't say anything, just wrapped her arms around my neck and burst out crying, what the hell had happened to her? I hugged her back and let her cry, apparently she needed it. I swear that if Liam had done something to her I would make him suffer. After a couple of minutes she calmed down and stopped crying, I made her sat on one of the couches and sat beside her.

"Now tell me what's wrong" I took her ugly glasses off and handed her one of the napkins Maria had brought me with my sandwich and I hadn't used, she dried her eyes "is about Liam, isn't it?"

"Yes" her voice broke, but she took a deep breath and tried to clam down "I went to his apartment to talk to him about the wedding, you know that we are getting marry next week and he still had some things to do. I used the key he keeps hidden for emergencies and I found him in his bed with a woman"

"Oh Erin, I'm so sorry"

"I was so stupid" no she wasn't, Liam was the stupid one, how could he do that to her? "I knew he was seeing other woman, but he promised me that he had stopped after our engagement and that he wasn't going to see anybody else. He said that he would respect me"

She burst into tears again, I went to one of the downstairs bathroom and came out with a box of tissues, she was going to need them.

"Does your mom know?"

"Yes, I called her as soon as it happened" she gave me a humorless laugh "and she said that what did I expect? Liam wouldn't just be happy with me, that I should just be thankful that he had agreed to marry me in the first place"

"She is an idiot, I'm sorry because I know that she is your mother, but you can't listen to her" at this moment I wanted to punch that malicious woman for hurting Erin's feelings, what kind of mother told her daughter that she wasn't good enough to do something? "Erin, Liam is the one that isn't worthy of you and I'm sorry for what I'm about to say, but I'm happy you saw him with that other woman"

"What? Why?"

"Because you needed to open your eyes" I hated saying this things to her, but she had to see the kind of person she had agreed to marry "Liam is not the person you think he is, he only wants to marry you for your money and you deserved way more than that, he doesn't deserve you, why can't you see that?"

"I know that the reason he wanted to marry me was to save his parents from ruin" now I was surprised, then why had she agreed to the stupid wedding? "I've been in love with him my entire life and I always dreamt of marrying him, I guessed that I thought with time I could make him love me. When I was little he was very sweet to me and I thought that he was still that boy that I fell in love with, but now I see that I was wrong"

"What are you planning to do?"

"I don't know" she dried her eyes again and sniffed "I thought about leaving"

"Leaving? where are you going?"

"I planned to go to Europe and finish school there"

"Is that what you really want?" I wasn't going to let her run from Liam, she needed to face him and knock him that pedestal she had put him on "or are you just leaving to get away from Liam?"

"I don't want to leave, but I don't want to stay here and face him either" I knew that Erin was stronger than even she knew, she just needed a little push to find herself "I don't want to see him with other woman"

"I understand that, but running is not the solution" an idea was forming in my head and it was making more sense by the minute "if you want I can help you get back at him"

"What do you mean?"

"You need to show him what he is missing and you need to show your mother that you are not her puppet and that you are going to do things your way from now on" I took her ugly glasses in my hands and snapped them in half "you don't need this, I knew you can see perfectly fine, another thing is your clothes, what do you dress like you are sixty instead of eighteen?"

"My mother says I look better in this clothes"

"Well she is laying" her mother was a bitch, just like mine "you are young and very beautiful, so you need to buy clothes that show off your attributes, not hide them. Then there is your hair, you have beautiful hair and I don't know what you always have it up in that hideous bun, you need to style it and let it down for a while"

"So you want me to change my appearance?" she looked doubtful for a moment, she thought I wanted to change her.

"No, I just want you to be you" I smiled at her "is that really the way you like to dress? or is it because your mother chooses your clothes for you?"

"She says that I don't look good in the clothes I like" me and her mother needed to have a little talk "that I would just look ridiculous"

"She is laying to you" I stood up and grabbed my purse and cell phone "we are going shopping and then to a salon, and we are going to buy all the clothes you like and your mother says they look bad on you. After that we are going to a salon to style your hair"

"And then what?" she stood up, but didn't move "what does that have to do with Liam?"

"Then we are going to show Liam just how stupid he was by cheating on you" I was so enjoying this, I had been diying to get my hands on Erin, she was going to look amazing by the time I was done with her and that would show that idiot Liam what he had thrown away "You are going to show him all he gave up and I don't mean your money"

"I'm not sure about this, what if I really look hideous in those clothes?"

"You have to trust me Erin" most of all she had to trust herself "I won't make you do anything you don't want to, but I promise you'll look beautiful, you are beautiful is just that you hide it"

She was quiet for a moment and I could see the wheels turning in her head, after a moment she smiled at me.

"Ok, I do trust you" I clapped my hands together and she laughed "I'm putting myself in your hands"

"Great, let's go and find a new Erin"

I knew this would make Liam hate me even more, but I didn't care. I was going to help Erin become the woman I knew she was and then I was going to take care of her mother, there was no way I was letting that woman put her down anymore, she needed a wake up call.
